Either way, it is a good moment to zoom out. We have been deep in the Farcaster bubble, so today I am widening the lens and will start tracking a few things beyond our usual loop. Let us see what is shipping, what is raising, and what is worth testing.

Base is Beginning to Explore a Network Token

Here is the big one. Base says it is beginning to explore a network token, and in crypto “exploring” usually means the train has left the station even if no timetable is posted. If Coinbase the company has $COIN, there is a tidy symmetry to Base the network eventually having $BASE. Call it the “coin everything” ethos meeting first principles: if you believe tokens are native to the internet and align networks, then the network that onboards the next wave should probably eat its own cooking.

Good morning Farcaster and hello September! Seasonally, September had been a down month while August was generally a good month. However, we've seen that August wasn't the best month so hopefully we'll see a good September ahead. Plenty of things to look forward to including a possible rate cut (There is an 83% chance of a rate cut currently on Polymarket).

Majors dipped this week and the Fear and Greed Index floated in the neutral 45–55 zone, which puts us in that no man’s land feeling. Call it a little zugzwang on whether the market rips or not. As we head into September, seasonality says “Septembear” then “Uptober,” but with a mid-September Fed meeting in focus, any hint of rate cuts could flip the mood fast. I am still leaning bullish, but Base volume looks thin across many names, so I am keeping the caution high. GM and have a great weekend...
