Instead of taking the path of least resistance, I have always steered towards the path of most resistance.

Something is wrong with me 😅

I knew this project would be an enormous task since an essential part of it is bridging real world organizations to a brand new technology.

I knew since my career has been in a completely different industry (healthcare) than the two I’m trying to merge (crypto & philanthropy) that the odds would be stacked against me.

But… when you see what I see you can’t unsee it.

This is a fact that most people don’t know: it is possible to program digital assets to heal the world.

Once I understood this, very few other ‘types’ of digital assets made sense to me.

I am building something that as the price of its network token goes up - the world measurably becomes brighter.

We can now cheer for a token not just for the hopes of a sweet extraction point. We can cheer for the token to go up, because we all know that as it goes up the world becomes a little bit brighter.

To be honest, I don’t know if I chose this path or if this path chose me. However, I do know that I am glad I’m on this path. It offers me an idea worth fighting for.

Progress is being made every week. From networking to building the digital infrastructure for the project.

People have asked why I removed the title “Founder.”

The answer is simple: Olive Branch Network was never meant to belong to one person.

I may have written the first lines of code and proposed the initial architecture, but a protocol isn’t built by its first commit. It is built by the people who use it, improve it, govern it, and trust it over time.

Every nonprofit that joins, every contributor who improves the code, every community member who participates in governance, and every early supporter who helps establish the network becomes part of its foundation.

That is why I no longer identify myself as the founder.

I’m a developer and a steward of the protocol. My responsibility is to help build the infrastructure, not to claim ownership over a public good.

If Olive Branch Network succeeds, it won’t be because one person built it. It will be because a community chose to build something together.

Obligation to help others shouldn't require sacrifice. If doing good always costs you the thing you'd have to give up, less good gets done — not because people are selfish, but because the threshold for participating becomes "I have so much surplus I can afford to lose some," which most people never cross.

We will permanently cap the network to 99 nonprofit pools.

Why?

Because impact becomes diluted when attention and contributions are spread infinitely thin.

We don’t want to become a giant directory of thousands of organizations competing for visibility.

We want OBN to remain focused, intentional, and meaningful.

By limiting the network to 99 nonprofits:

• contributions become more concentrated • communities become stronger • governance becomes cleaner • onboarding standards stay high and each nonprofit on the network can receive meaningful support

🛠️ Several updates to the OBN App have been pushed over the past several days.

- ‘Trade OBN’ page is now the ‘Buy OBN’ page. Users on all devices/apps can now swap ETH for OBN within the app instead of being redirected to Uniswap.

- Dark mode color scheme is now even darker.

- FAQ page updated to provide more coherent questions and answers. Contract addresses now provide a link. UI has been optimized.

- Optimized nonprofit descriptions to fit better within apps

- RPC efficiency improvements

- Flashing of the nonprofit pool cards when switching from ‘all, environment, humanity, and animals’ tabs fixed

- Removed the ‘Share’ button on the nonprofit pages for everyone except Farcaster users.

- Fixed a bug that was causing users on X to not be able to perform actions reliably when connecting via MetaMask through Rainbow wallet kit.

Users on X can now connect to the OBN App via @coinbase wallet, @metamask wallet, @rainbowdotme wallet, etc and reliably perform all actions 🙂

If simulation theory is real, then wouldn’t something outside of the simulation need to exist?

A creator of a simulation is necessary, isn’t it?

If there is a creator, an important question arises.

Is the creator like us?

If the creator is like us, wouldn’t the creator want a dramatic story of light overpowering darkness?

This is the story that echoes through the majority of the stories written by humanity and even in stories written by nature itself.

Like the story of a seedling taking root in the darkness, only to eventually break the earth into a world of light.

I think it’s safe to say that the majority of people believe humanity is in darkness right now. I would agree.

But do most see, that just like the seedling, we are taking root and moving upwards?

Do most see, that we are on the way to break out of the darkness into a world of light?

Look at what we know of human history thus far… Carefully, from the very beginning until now…

Have we not come a long way, in terms of progress towards light?

Remember that for every happy ending, there was a beginning with less happiness.

If all of these things are true (we are in a simulation, there is a creator of the simulation, and the creator is like us), then we as humanity need to be strong.

Some seedlings never take root. Some take root, but never break soil. Some break soil, but are overtaken by other plants competing for light…

But some thrive. Growing taller than the others around it - closer to the source of light. Let that be us.

In case humanity breaks into the light, always remember that as a plant grows taller and thrives (closer to the light), so does its roots grow bigger and deeper into the earth.

Light cannot exist without darkness.

There is a proper balance between the two that needs to be maintained in order for the whole to thrive.

These seem to be rules of the simulation we are in, if we are indeed existing within a simulation.

🎨 Frontend Updates:

- Reworked the entire desktop browser version of the OBN App. All the pages are now optimized for desktop viewing - Updated the User Guide page to simplify the guide - Hardened the LoadingAnimation. No flashing should occur anymore - Converted the wobbling egg .mp4 that was displaying for users without an NFT to a .gif to make to appear more reliably across all devices - Reworked the loading process of the OliveNFT/wobbling egg to remove the flash that was occurring - Updated the Analytics page graphs to not show timestamps and the Active Stakers to display in whole numbers only - Removed zooming for the MiniApp version - Slight changes to colors to make all pages uniform in light mode & dark mode

There were many other small UI updates made as well over the holiday week. The OBN App is now fully optimized for the MiniApp, desktop browsers, and mobile browsers ☺️

With the recent upgrade to StakingPools v9, the protocol for $OBN is stronger than ever. That being said, there is still room to make it even better.

What I will be working on next:

(1) Migrate the Rainforest Foundation to their new address (no action needed from users) (2) Create an adjustable lever that burns a percentage of the treasury’s 1%. (3) Make all functions that will be used in the future DAO fully atomic

🔄 Update - Pushing StakingPools v9.0 Instead of v8.9.0 (11/11/2025 11:00PM CST)

I built OBN StakingPools v8.9.0 with several improvements. During security review before mainnet deployment, I discovered a critical honeypot risk in the `forceExitUser()` function. Instead of deploying the vulnerable v8.9.0, I fixed the issue and created v9.0—which keeps all the good v8.9.0 features, fixes the security flaw, and adds even more improvements.

⚠️ The Problem: v8.9.0 forceExitUser() Honeypot Risk

v8.9.0 included a `forceExitUser()` function with a `recipient` parameter:

```solidity function forceExitUser(uint256 pid, address user, address recipient) external { // User's tokens go to recipient address // Admin could call: forceExitUser(pid, user, attacker_address) // Result: User loses all tokens to attacker } ```

This created a **honeypot pattern** - a malicious admin could steal user tokens. Even though the intent was good (emergency exits), the implementation was dangerous.

☑️ The Solution: v9.0 with forceExitUserToSelf()

I completely redesigned the emergency exit to eliminate the theft vector:

```solidity function forceExitUserToSelf(uint256 pid, address user, bool claimRewards) external { // User's tokens returned to THEMSELVES ONLY // No recipient parameter = impossible to redirect funds // Admin can trigger it but can't steal tokens } ```

➕ What v9.0 Includes

Carried Forward from v8.9.0 (solid features): - `removePool()` - Safely remove pools with charity wallet fallback - `shutdownPool()` - Block new deposits while allowing exits - Pool lifecycle management architecture

Fixed in v9.0 (security improvement): - `forceExitUser()` → `forceExitUserToSelf()` - Emergency exit without theft vector

Brand New in v9.0 (enhancements we added): - `migrateBootstrap()` - Nonprofit bootstrap address migration (atomic, safe, preserves rewards) - Reward preservation validation (prevents silent reward loss down to 1 wei) - Lock overflow prevention (prevents lock corruption) - Atomic charity wallet updates (all-or-nothing operations) - Extra hardening validations for edge cases

I have sent over 50,000,000 $OBN to users on Farcaster in 10,000 $OBN increments. That means I sent it to over 5,000 unique users.

This was all done manually. I searched for users who were active on Farcaster and I sent each of them $OBN with a message that briefly explained our project. Sorry if I missed you.

This was a lot of work, but I thought it was the best way to decentralize the network and introduce new people to the Olive Branch Network and its app.

I will be holding off on airdropping the rest of the Farcaster wallet (7,777,777 $OBN) until Christmas time 🎄

🔄 Recent Changes, Tests, and Findings

➕ Added to the OBN App: • dark mode • current APY • total amount staked in each pool • unique number of users in each pool • hyperlink on nonprofits ETH address to verify nonprofits

🧪 Successfully Tested Contract: • claim on all nonprofits pending rewards from bootstrap funds; rewards split as intended on claim

🔎 Finding: • Upon adding verification links, I noticed GiveDirectly removed their public Ethereum address from their website. Looks like they decided to use a new Endaoment smart contract address. Emailed them to see if they can display the previous address somewhere again, so users can easily verify that it belongs to them.
