Today, June 12, I wake up with a full heart. As a multiracial woman whose parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents each brought together different racial and cultural heritages, I carry the living proof that love has always been stronger than any law. My family tree is a beautiful tapestry—woven across generations with threads of resilience, joy, and the simple truth that when two people choose each other, something extraordinary is born.

Loving Day exists because of that very truth. On this date in 1967, the U.S. Supreme Court delivered a unanimous decision in Loving v. Virginia that struck down every remaining state ban on interracial marriage. Richard and Mildred Loving, a devoted couple from Virginia, had been arrested and forced to leave their home state simply for being married. They refused to let fear or prejudice define their love. Their courage reached the highest court in the land, where justices affirmed that the right to marry the person you love belongs to every American under the Fourteenth Amendment.

Because of Richard and Mildred—and every couple who quietly or loudly refused to hide their love—my family exists openly and proudly today. My grandparents and their siblings married across racial lines when it was still taboo enough to be dangerous in many places. My ancestors built their life together knowing the road ahead might be full of smoke, yet still holding space of the misanthropic regime of those who came before. And now I relax in a home filled with laughter in multiple dialects, holiday tables that blend recipes from different heritages, and beautiful, enchanting children whose very existence is a celebration of unity.

Merging is beautiful. It is not a dilution of anything—it is an expansion of what is already existing into a something unique and totally new. In my family we celebrate Chinese New Year with as many decorations as Christmas. Vegan soul food and dumplings too have a place on the table.

We talk openly about our different shades of experience, our textured backgrounds, our varied traditions, and we teach the next generation that our differences are not divisions; they are treasures to share. Every mixed-race child I see skating up a sidewalk, every multiracial couple holding hands as they do their shopping, every family photo that looks like a small United Nations is a living reminder that the Lovings’ victory was never just about marriage. It was about the right to build families that reflect the full, glorious spectrum of humanity.

My multigenerational multiracial family is not an exception; we are becoming the beautiful norm. Every year on June 12, I feel deep gratitude for the Lovings and for every person who fought so that families like mine could exist without apology. Their legacy lives on in every hug, every shared meal, every child who grows up knowing they are the perfect blend of all the love that came before them.

Today and every day, let’s keep choosing love. Let’s keep building bridges. And let’s keep celebrating the magnificent truth that multi-cultural heritage is not only beautiful—it is unstoppable.

There’s a strange expectation placed on artists—especially women—that whatever we share should arrive finished, polished, and perfectly explained. As if the only respectable moment to speak is after the mess has been cleaned up and the receipt neatly folded.

Why We Listen This Way is a multipart series with a curated focus on music genre deep dives, adding context, historical depth and value for music lovers.

That has never been how my life worked.

None of the curiosities that become long or brief careers arrived in straight lines, and none of the work I’m proud of came from pretending I already had it all figured out.

Most of it came from tinkering. From asking questions out loud. From following curiosities that didn’t yet have a name or a guarantee anyone would care if I produced it.

Which is why I built my YouTube channel, Maxximillian.

Not to teach.

Not to preach ( except for the gospels of my 4 apostles: AI, AR, blockchain, crypto).

And definitely not

to perform expertise.

I built it because I wanted a place to talk honestly about what I’m working on while I’m working on it. Or as soon as it's fucking done.

Because interactive art is like a human—it should come with a friendly guide. Mine does: me.

It turns out that’s the part people almost never get to see.

We live in a culture obsessed with outcomes. Novels without drafts. Art without sketches. Music arrives packaged to eat without utensils divorced from the cooks that seasoned it. And then we wonder why what could have been a meal is sold like a snack.

That’s also why I’m starting a new series on the channel—deep dives into the histories of the musical genres I work in. Not because I’m trying to become a historian, and not because I want to explain music to anyone.

But because understanding where a sound comes from changes how we receive it.

When you know the lineage, the self-imposed niche constraints, what became canon that began as accidents, and the cultural pressures that shaped a genre, you stop treating it like background noise. You start listening differently. More generously. More attentively.

And when I'm making music that isn’t just an MP3 (or a fat new WAV, Nerds)—but something people feel good about buying in beyond an artist or future sale we invest in—that context of our own relation to what moved the artist to play / sing the thing matters.

This series isn’t academic. It’s an niche orientation to deepen our appreciation for this pocket of music in a way that doeesn't instruct at all, rather points out an opportune moment here and there along the way from the begining until now.

▼ Step 1 — Install MetaMask

On your phone:

  1. Open the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).

  2. Search “MetaMask” by ConsenSys.

  3. Download and open it.

On your computer:

  1. Open Chrome, Brave, Firefox, or Edge.

  2. Visit the official site: metamask.io

  3. Install the MetaMask browser extension.

Step 2 — Create Your Wallet

  1. Tap “Create a new wallet.”

  2. Create a strong password for this device.

  3. MetaMask will show you a Secret Recovery Phrase — 12–24 words.

This phrase is the key to your wallet. If you lose it, no one can restore it.

Write it down on paper and store it offline. Don’t screenshot it or store it in Notes, email, or the cloud.

MetaMask will ask you to re-enter the words to confirm. After that, your wallet is created.

Step 3 — Get Your Wallet Address

When you open MetaMask, you’ll see an address like:

Tap it to copy it.

This is your “delivery address” for the NFT.

You don’t need to send it anywhere — the drop page will read it automatically when you connect.

$30 USD equivalent to cover both the cost of each patron pass plus the nominal transaction fee charged by the network (we call it the 'gas fee')

Part 4 — Connect Your Wallet

  1. Look for “Connect Wallet” or “Sign in with Wallet.”

  2. Select MetaMask.

  3. MetaMask will open and ask you to “Connect” and/or “Sign a message.”

A signature here is not a payment — it's simply confirming ownership of your wallet.

This tells the system, “This is where to deliver my art.”

Part 5 — Choose Your Artwork

  1. Scroll to find “Listen To Your Heart.”

  2. Tap the piece you want to collect.

  3. Click “Buy,” “Mint,” or “Collect” (depending on the platform).

This opens the checkout.

When you open the page, you'll see all the artist patron passes you can choose from. Select one, or multiples in a single transaction. No need to use crypto, though you can if you like.

Part 6 — Pay with USDC or Ethereum on Base Network

▼ Select your preferred currency and complete your payment. There will be a series of transaction requests you'll be expect to sign that verify your wallet, send the artwork and create a kind of receipt.

The system automatically buys the necessary crypto and completes the mint for you. The artwork goes straight into your connected wallet. You can optionally send the art itself to a single different wallet you choose if your payment wallet isn't where you want to receive the artwork.

This is also a convenient way to send art as a gift.

Part 7 — Receive Your NFT from “Listen To Your Heart”

After payment confirms:

This usually takes 10–60 seconds, occasionally a few minutes.

You should see a message like “Mint Successful” on the page.

Part 8 — How to View Your NFT

Option A — In MetaMask (depending on network)

  1. Open MetaMask.

  2. Make sure you're on the correct network (the drop page will say which).

  3. Tap the NFTs tab.

  4. Your piece from “Listen To Your Heart” should appear there.

Some versions of MetaMask may require manually adding:

You may get a link to view your NFT on OpenSea, Zora, Rarible, or a similar viewer.

MetaMask is a tool that lets you hold digital assets in a private vault you control. MetaMask never sees your card info.

3. Do I need to buy crypto first?

Install metamask and then you'll see a prompt introducing you to multiple options for funding your wallet. Metamask is very user friendly, that's why its so popular.

4. What is a “gas fee”?

A small fee paid to the blockchain to process your transaction.

It’s the blockchain equivalent of postage or filing fees.

When using a credit card, it’s simply included in your checkout total.

5. MetaMask is asking me to “sign.” Am I being charged again?

No.

Most wallet signatures cost zero money.

They’re simply authentication: “Yes, this is my wallet.”

MetaMask will always show a dollar amount if something requires payment.

6. What if my card is charged but my NFT isn’t showing yet?

Always wait at least 10–30 minutes, refresh your wallet, and check your email confirmation.

Some photographs are taken by accident, and some are taken with reverence. This one—captured in the warmth of wood walls and laughter, in a place called The Salty Dawg in Homer, Alaska—was one of the rare ones. The ones where you know, even before the shutter clicks, that you're holding onto something you're about to lose.

The Salty Dawg is one of those places in Alaska that pretends to be a bar but is actually a memory machine. The walls are covered in dollar bills, yes—but they're also paper prayers, love letters, drunk jokes, and signatures of presence. People come from all over the world to leave something behind. A mark. A name. A day that mattered.

That’s what I did—what we did—on that day. My cousin and I scribbled on a dollar bill and pinned it to the wall. She was already dancing at the edge of this life, and we both knew it. The moment had that strange clarity that only comes when you know it's the last of something. The air is thicker. The light more golden. We documented it with the calm urgency of people who know the photograph won’t just be a memory—it will be the keeper of the memory.

And now, here it is: the image. A found photograph that resurfaced unexpectedly, like a wave returning to shore years later. And a video too—her voice, unmistakable. The kind of video you forget you even had, until suddenly it finds you again.

The Last Time We Knew: A Photograph from The Salty Dawg, Homer, Alaska. This photograph will soon live on the Real Photos platform as part of a personal ongoing series—a themed archival thread, a meditation on all modes of presence. Real.Photo is niche platform for old school photographs taken with a camera or phone's camera. It has a uniquely calming timeline and is colamint to look at. Looking at a moment that you know actually happened hits different.

There’s something impossibly tender about knowing you said goodbye on purpose. So much of life slips away without ceremony. But once in a while, we do get to choose the ritual. We get to take a photo that says: this mattered. We get to press “record” not for the feed, but for the future.

However, its documentation and available information do not explicitly confirm support for LNURLw or Bolt Card-specific functionality.

Oyl Wallet does support Lightning Network transactions, which suggests it could theoretically integrate with Bolt Card if it supports LNURLw. Fear is a weapon, fashioned by those around us.

As the moon peeks out from behind the clouds, and I enjoy the candlelight of the mind, it falls upon the pages of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, where Ichabod Crane is pursued by what he perceives as the terrifying Headless Horseman, a profound allegory for how we confront—or fail to confront—our internal fears. While often interpreted as a supernatural tale, I was surprised to learn there's an alternate story that the presumed specter that sent the would-be hero running was actually Brom Bones, Ichabod's human rival, cleverly disguised as a local legend to troll Ichabod because Brom was a hater and he was waiting for Ichabod on the route he knew Ichabod would take home with the intention of harassing him, or worse—who knows?!

The Headless Horseman, whether it was in fact a ghost or an attack mislabeled as a prank, represents the unreasonable challenges we face. It's a reminder that our rivals might not always confront us with swords but with ridicule, unsettling us or excluding us to gain some ill-perceived or actual leverage. Ichabod's decision to retreat, and subsequent demise or disappearance, illustrates that running from our fears can have dire consequences. It wasn't the ghost or Brom that ultimately defeated Ichabod; it was his own unwillingness to face discomfort or challenge head-on.

The pumpkin hurled by the Horseman, which knocks Ichabod off his horse, can be seen as the opposition's ability to strike from a distance. This mirrors how fear and external pressures can disrupt our progress, even when the source seems non-threatening or ridiculous upon closer inspection. The tale teaches us a critical lesson : when we perceive a threat, whether it be from within or without, the path to power does not always lie in avoidance.
